Southern Right Therapy provides Occupational Therapy services to children and young adults. We offer a mobile service to Warrnambool and across regional South West Victoria. Our services are based in “natural settings” – at home, kinder or school, and via telehealth – as we believe this is where children are most comfortable and learn the best.

Occupational Therapy

Paediatric Occupational Therapists assist children in developmental milestones and skills required to participate in home, kinder and school environments.

Southern Right Therapy provides tailored Occupational Therapy programs to meet the specific goals of children, young people and their families, such as:

  • Self-care: toileting, showering, dressing, eating, organisational skills, learning to tie shoe laces.
  • Motor skills: balance, ball skills, core strength, coordination, fine motor control, finger and hand strength.
  • Handwriting: holding and manipulating a pencil, letter formation, writing legibility, typing skills, fatigue management, hand strengthening.
  • Sensory processing: ability to identify and appropriately respond to sensory information (vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch and body position in space). Therapy also can focus on building skills for self-regulation.

Services are provided in partnership with primary caregivers and in close communication with other members of your family’s support team such as GPs, paediatricians, psychologists, speech pathologists, physiotherapists, teachers, early childhood educators and your NDIS support coordinator.

We are trained for the provision of the following specialist services:

Play Therapy

Play Therapy can facilitate healing and restoration of secure attachments in relationships for children who may have experienced a complex medical history, trauma background or other mental health conditions.

Child Centered Play Therapy is an effective and evidence-based modality, where children can express themselves beyond what words can say. It can assist children in processing complex feelings and events, within a safe and nurturing environment.

Telehealth

In response to our changing world, we offer Occupational Therapy services in the comfort of your own home via video conferencing (telehealth).

If you are wanting to give it a try we can provide initial consultations via telehealth, as well as providing flexible therapy arrangements – with a mix of telehealth and home visit sessions.
